Travelogue | Thirparappu Waterfalls and Mahadevar Temple

Last week to spent our holidays we visited the place Thirparappu/Thriparappu (Malayalam: തൃപ്പരപ്പ്, Tamil: திற்பரப்பு). It is famous for a great waterfall and a sivalaya temple. Commonly the waterfall of Thirparappu is known as ‘Kumari Kuttalam’ (Kuttalam is a famous waterfalls in south India, Kumari itself Kanayakumari). We knew only that much information when we started the journey. We started our journey from Trivandrum through Marthandam, Kulasekharam via Thirparappu. When we reached the place Thirparappu junction we had the confusion because the main road is splitting into two. Right side road had the bus service and the other not. Which way we are suppose to choose to reach Thirparappu. To avoid the confusion there is a arch in the left side road to direct the people to waterfall. We sent our vehicle through left side. Commonly the waterfalls may not be found in habited area. But here we traveled through the residential area....

Travelogue | Chitharal Rock Cut Temple & Jain Monument

I am much interested to say about one of my favorite places Chitharal Rock Cut Temple or Chitharal Malai Kovil (ചിതറാല്‍ പാറ കോവില്‍ in Malayalam, சிதறால் மலை கோவில் in Tamil). I have more things to share with you about it. I came to know about this place by my wife. She was a teacher of Excel Central School, Thiruvattar. As a study trip she has taken her students to this place. According to her information my self and colleague planned to have a trip on Sunday here. Actually we planned to start at 6am, because of some reasons we became late. So we started our journey at 7.30am from Thiruvananathapuram. There are many ways to reach here. We selected the way Marthandam-Attoor. From Marthandam we sent our vehicle to Kulasekharam road. When we traveled 4 km, we reached Attoor junction. From there turn left to go to Chitharal. On the visit of our relative’s house, one evening we went to a temple, which was Aruvikkarai Bhahavathy Temple (Malayalam: തിരുവട്ടാര്‍ അരുവിക്കര, Tamil: திருவட்டார் அருவிக்கரை). It is between the places Thiruvattar and Mathoor. Till we reached the temple, we were no any idea about the temple or the place. When we reached the place, what to say? Really we excited. What a wonderful place it was! Either we didn’t plan this trip; we would have missed this wonderful place. Because it was a small village and not much popular area, only because of the temple people used to visit here, that too local people. First we went to the temple. It was an old temple. Here they worship the Godess Bhagavathy Amman and Saptha Kanyakamar (Seven ). The temple located down from the land level and it’s on the rocks and it was encircled with walls. Numbering of vehicle in India is done at Regional/Sub Regional Transport Offices located in various states. Each vehicle number has prescribed format. Eminent Personalities | Thiruvattar Arumugam Pillai Bhagavathar

Swargiya Thiruvattar Arumugam Pillai Bhagavathar (-, 1989) (Malayalam: തിരുവട്ടാര്‍ അറുമുഖം പിള്ളൈ ഭാഗവതര്‍, Tamil: திருவட்டார் ஆறுமுகம் பிள்ளை பாகவதர்) was one of the great carnatic musicians. But he was not much familiar to the world. So we would like introducing him to the world. He was from Thiruvattar, Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu, We collected the following information from his student Mr. V. Murugan, who is a carnatic musician. He wished to introduce the eminent personality to the world through us. When he says about his master, we could understand the respect, love and affection of his mind. His life history was so amazing and unbelievable. He lost his vision in the age of four because of a disease. After that he lived in the world of darkness. But his life was not darkness. He had the knowledge in Music. So he started a new life with Music. His brother’s family was supporting him to learn music....
